Our family business has a rich history. Back in 1963, J.M.C. Metternich
(the father of Clemens and the grandfather of Laurens and Quintus)
produced the first innovative and sustainable cleaning solutions.
And although a lot has changed in the decades that followed,
this is what we still do today.
Spectro is the first Dutch manufacturer of cleaning agents with a webshop.
Laurens and Quintus Metternich obtain shareholder control and since then have been on the board of directors. Ecodos Easy is presented at the ISSA/Interclean. Introduction of the sustainable laundry brand Ecodet.
We expand our facilities, the expansion includes a new laboratory and training rooms.
We win the Family Fundament Award for the Best Dutch Family Company. We are also the first Dutch manufacturer of professional dishwashing products to be certified with an EU Ecolabel. We also acquire Zwolle-based PL Chemicals.
We extend our production and storage facilities. Laurens Metternich acquires a majority percentage of the company shares.
We implement the environmental management system A.I.S.E. Charter for Sustainable Cleaning.
A special milestone: we receive our tenth EU Ecolabel.
We are the first Dutch manufacturer of private label cleaning products certified with an EU Ecolabel .
We launch the sustainable brand Ecodos. Meanwhile, Swiftfill has been fully integrated into our company.
Another acquisition: this time, we acquire Swiftfill based in Nuenen.
We continue to grow and also acquire Bio Liquids based in Den Bosch. We integrate Bio Liquids directly into our company.
We acquire Tilburg-based Yardo & Fresh. We also take over the manufacturing activities from Zeeperij in Belgium.
A new packaging hall is constructed at Grevelingenmeer.
We construct an entirely new factory with office space at Grevelingenmeer in Oss. Spectro also becomes a private company.
Clemens and Trix Metternich separate and establish Spectro, based at Galliërsweg in Oss.
Clemens Metternich graduates as a chemist and starts to work at Producten Sociëteit Metternich. Later on in this same year, the company name changes to Metternich Chemie.
J.M.C. Metternich sets up a company manufacturing disinfectants named Producten Sociëteit Metternich, based on Middelwijkstraat in Soest.
